Info: Our guest is John F. Burns, longtime foreign correspondent for The New York Times and currently the paper’s London Bureau Chief. Winner of two Pulitzer prizes (1993 and 1997), his international postings have included Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Beijing, Moscow, South Africa and others. In 1986, as China Bureau Chief, he was jailed on charges of spying. The charges were later dropped. Mr. Burns began at the Times in 1975 as a writer in the Metropolitan section. Prior to that he worked for The Toronto Globe and Mail. In addition to the Pulitzers, he has twice won the George Polk Award for foreign reporting (1978 and 1996).
